My Handsworth High School Field Hockey Team recently took home Provincial gold Remembrance Day weekend, 2022. I was on the starting lineup this season and played center midfield. My style of play is quick and aggressive. I’m a good passer and I transitioned the ball well, creating many scoring opportunities and goals. I was the primary inserter for most of our short corner plays. Our team practiced hard and went undefeated all regular season, winning the North Shore banner against Sentinel Secondary and then the Vancouver / Sea to Sky Zone championships against Churchill High. Finally, we arrived at the AAA high school Provincials in Surrey B.C., ranked 1st. After two days of playing we went into the finals against Oak Bay High from Vancouver Island. It was a tough game and our teams were tied 0-0 after regulation. We had to go to a shootout, but we ended up winning gold. Not only the provincial win, but this entire season was an amazing experience. Playing with these girls and all their different talents allowed me improve my own game and grow as a player. I am so grateful for the experience and can not wait for my grade 12 season.
